Introduction
The Rescue Mate super-capacitor jump starters draws a small amount of remaining capacity from your flat battery. While you may not have enough power to start your vehicle, it's enough to charge up the Rescue Mate.
Simply connect the Rescue Mate to your battery, wait 90 seconds*, press run, start your vehicle and you're back on your way.

The Rescue Mate devices can be charged off the residual capacity in your flat battery.
If your battery is completely flat you can either 1) charge the device from another vehicle's 12 volt battery, 2) you can use the 5V USB port and charge the device from a USB wall charger or portable power bank or 3) use the cigarette lighter cable and charge the device from a Cigarette lighter socket / 12V dc outlet.

** These devices may not work on all Diesel vehicles due to the longer cranking time required to start diesel engines and the amount of power required to heat up the glow plugs on older vehicles. For Diesel engines up to 5.0L we recommend the RM1000 unit.

Batteryless? How do these units work without batteries?
Good question. The Rescue Mate jump starters contain Supercapacitors (Ultracapacitors) which are capable of storing and discharging energy very quickly and effectively. In conjunction with our unique charging control circuit, it enables the device to charge up from very low voltages, hence a flat battery. Once the device is charged up and the RUN button is pressed, it can provide a quick burst of power to start your engine.
What if my battery is completely flat?
Don't worry as you can also charge the device from 1) another vehicles battery, 2) using the the 5V micro USB port / portable powerbank charger, 3) or a 12V Cig. DC outlet.
What will a Rescue Mate start?
The RM500 will start Petrol/Gas vehicles up to 5.0Litres. The RM1000 will start Petrol/Gas vehicles up to 10.0L and Diesel vehicles up to 5.0L*.
How long will the capacitors hold charge?
The Rescue Mate will hold enough charge for a few days. The device has been designed to be charged off your flat battery before each use and will not hold charge like battery powered jump starters. If you're using the device daily for multiple jump starts, simply let the device recharge before disconnecting the device after each jump start so it's ready to go for your next one.
What if the vehicle doesn't start the first time?
Leave the Rescue Mate connected and it will automatically begin recharging ready to jumpstart again in 90 seconds* if unsuccessful on the first jump. Then press RUN and start the vehicle.
Can the Rescue Mate charge your phone?
It won't charge your phone, but it will jumpstart your car. Lithium jump-starters are more commonly used as a powerbank to charge the user's devices rather than starting their cars. But what use is a jump-starter if it's flat when you really need it?
